Claire Breitsprecher

Artist.

Conjuring ethereal landscapes which capture the unseen spirit of nature. Semi-abstract does not really do justice to these magical works of art in a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil pastel, pencil and watercolour.

Claire's art transports us to other worlds, evokes emotion and yet holds the familiar. Working with fragments of memory, stories and imagined spaces, grounded by her observations and familiarity with the rural landscape which surrounds her. Having long been associated with folklore, rituals and other realms, being cocooned amongst the trees on her daily walks, brings a reconnection to a world where magic and nature become one of the same. There is a dream-like ambiguity which invites the viewer to create their own narrative.

Claire was introduced to oils and watercolours at the age of nine, and developed an early love of painting.

Her formal education included Art Foundation at the Swindon School of Art and Design. She returned to painting full-time in 2022, developing a practice which combines observation with intuition and explores a variety of mediums.

Her work has been included in many local exhibitions including her successful solo exhibition in 2024. She is part of the large community of open studios artists.
