Helen Cheetham
Artist
Bold, vibrant and expressive landscapes emerge with Helen Cheetham’s paintings and showcase her love of the outdoors, nature and place.
Her art is led by emotion. Her emotional response to her subject allows us to share and feel her fascination for and memories of places she has visited.
Her landscapes are deeply personal whilst connecting us to something universal in the natural world around us. Her art is a beautiful dance between personal experience and the deep visceral understanding of landscape in us all.
Helen works mainly in acrylic and oil paint but also very much loves working with pastels.
Helen draws on a lifelong immersion in art and a love of art galleries. She studied Art History at university before working in galleries and museums. Her experience is valued greatly at Wessex Downs Gallery where she contributes to inspiring and uplifting visitors who share her love of galleries and know how being in the presence of art can do this.
Helen’s rich art background has played a key role in informing her painting style and techniques. It has been her absolute joy to focus more on her own artistic practice in recent years alongside working as an art tutor.
She has worked on commissioned paintings and exhibited in local galleries.
