Stunning brushwork, atmosphere and depth are the golden threads that weave through Helen’s nature inspired paintings.

Inspired by land, sea and sky to create expansive scenes that speak to the soul and fascinated by birds to reflect their ethereal, lively and curious nature.

Helen works in different paint mediums, watercolour, oils and acrylics. Her landscapes lean to modern impressionism working with soft edges, blended colours and light to create atmospheric art. Her bird paintings often take a more graphic approach, influenced by Japanese art.

She is not constrained by a given style, able to adapt her approach and medium for artworks with a depth that have you come back to again and again.

A self-taught artist with a lineage of generations of artists before her, she turned away from painting after school to follow a career in law only finding her way back later.

Since, picking up her paint brushes again, she has exhibited in galleries across Hampshire and Somerset. Her work is in private collections in the UK. She is also part of the community of open studios artists.

Wessex Downs Gallery is Helen’s brainchild. As gallery manager she is developing skills as a curator and community builder.
