Pradeepa David
Artist.
Pradeepa elevates flowers, landscapes, and portraits through vivid colour and light, focusing on subjects that make her heart leap — creating realistic and evocative watercolour paintings that radiate joy.
Her love of her medium speaks volumes in her work. Whatever the subject, her aim is to bring the soul to a place of bliss. Watercolour, with its flowing, transparent nature, enables her to capture subtle changes and delicate features. Using pure pigments, she can put all kinds of colours together and still create beautifully varied calming spaces in her paintings.
Her paintings are created in layers, usually starting with wet in wet washes. Eventually, she uses wet on dry paint and dry brush. Her work gathers yet more interest as she moves beyond the brush to make fascinating marks with sticks, leaves, cards and more.
Her questioning approach to her work ensures that it is always fresh and inviting. Not constrained by traditions she has freedom in her painting which gives her work an exciting quality that we come back to again and again.
Her enthusiasm carries into her very popular workshops and courses.
Pradeepa originally trained to be a doctor. She discovered the magic of watercolour in 2018 and its versatility has continued to fascinate. She draws inspiration from the garden and the landscapes she goes for walks in.
Her work has been exhibited locally in Chandlers Ford and in galleries.
